Diabetes and Hispanic Americans

  • In 2018, Hispanics were 1.3 times more likely than non-Hispanic whites to die from diabetes.
  • Hispanic adults are 70 percent more likely than non-Hispanic white adults to be diagnosed with diabetes by a physician.
  • In 2017, Hispanics were twice as likely to be hospitalized for treatment of end-stage renal disease related to diabetes, as compared to non-Hispanic whites.
